iron (ii) sulphate heptahydrate - 99% pure technical grade blue/green crystals
iron sulphate is a compound containing an iron atom and sulphate molecule bonded together with an ionic bond. iron sulphate anhydrous itself is rare and so its is mainly found in a hydrated form; the most common being heptahydrate with a blue/green crystal appearance.
iron sulphate properties
at room temperature iron (ii) sulphate heptahydrate appears as a blue/green crystalline solid. dehydration happens at 70oc and complete decomposition happens at 400oc. iron (ii) sulphate heptahydrate dissolves in water and the molecular formula for iron (ii) sulphate heptahydrate is feso4.7h2o.
applications for iron sulphate
moss killer / control
iron (ii) sulphate is very effective at controlling moss on your lawn. to use, apply 5-10g of solid crystals direct to each 1m2 of lawn. only apply solid product when its raining or about to rain; if not dissolve 5-10g in 1 litre of water and apply.
lawn conditioning
iron (ii) sulphate can be used to condition lawns. start by testing a small part of your lawn to test for adverse effects, by applying a 1% solution (10g per litre). if the result is positive, continue applying a 1% solution. if the desired effect is not realised, try increasing the concentration of your solution. please be careful not to over administer as this could kill the grass.
acidify soil
iron (ii) sulphate can also be used to increase the acidity of your soil for ericaceous plants. to use, apply 20-40g dissolved in water per square meter. specifications of 1kg - iron sulphate ferrous sulfate
