Moong Seed Sowing and Yield Details

Seed Rate per Acre:

Normal (Kharif/Summer): 8–10 kg per acre.

High-Density (Summer/Spring): 12–15 kg per acre.

Windy/Difficult Conditions: Up to 15-20 kg per acre can be used to ensure plant population.

Per Acre Yield:

Average Yield: 400–600 kg (15–20 maunds) per acre.

High Yield: Up to 22 maunds (nearly 800+ kg) is possible with high-yielding varieties (e.g., NM-2006, NIFA Mung-2019) and good management.

Sowing Specifications:

Method: Sowing by drill/pora/kera.

Depth: 4–6 cm.

Row-to-Row Spacing: 22.5 cm (summer) to 45 cm (Kharif). 

Key Management Practices

Seed Treatment: Use 3 gm of Captan or Thiram per kg of seed to manage soil-borne diseases.

Fertilizer Requirement: Apply 18 kg of Urea, 10 kg of Urea phosphate or Map  (or 100 kg SSP), and 8 kg of Granular Sulphur per acre at sowing.

Weed Control: Apply 700 ml of Pendimethalin 30 EC (Stomp) per acre immediately after sowing to control weeds
